Last month's Bin Laden tapes contained an apparently little noticed section where he vowed "never to be captured alive....", according to the Enemy Press AP.
Why did he make that statement now? Why not earlier? Perhaps because he is dead already and the terrorist groups are afraid proof will come out, and they want to prepare a suitable "death" for him fighting against American troops. This seems likely. This blog believes Osama is long dead, probably right after the first wave of attacks by Coalition troops. There is no evidence any of the purported tapes are of recent vintage. Referring to actions by Al-Qaida is no proof at all. They know what they've planned and can refer to it if successful, otherwise silence.
Very little recently has gone well for the terrorist thugs. They need a so-called martyrs death for their leader to try to buck up the evil spirits of their minions. Hopefully they will fail and continue to fail. Only a spectacular success akin to 911 will do. Unfortunately, if a mission is carried out we know that their brothers in the Enemy Press will gladly trumpet that success for weeks and months if necessary to demoralize America and to make America quit. Too bad the press doesn't understand that a terrorist victory means death for them as well.

This week's Carnival of Cordite is up at the Revolutionary War Veterans Association.

Here are two attempts at target shooting my Henry Levergun. I shot from the offhand position and emptied the magazine as quickly as I could. The range was approximately fifty yards with a slight wind. This was after shooting a box of twenty gauge and some plinking.

Enemy Press Network ABC's World News Tonight showed video clips of a purported Iraqi sniper who claims to have killed over one hundred soldiers during the rebuilding of Iraq. All the while the Enemy Press refuses to post pictures of the Mahomet cartoons, saying they don't want to upset Muslims. Upsetting Americans is obviously a completely different affair.
This blog has not offered a link to the cartoons. The cartoons are poorly executed, and banal. Although this blog believes that islam is a false, dead hope, Ah, Shoot! doesn't force its visitors to adhere to any specific religion, or to any religion at all.
The actions today of the Enemy Press Network ABC requires a response. This blog will still not post a direct link to the Mahomet cartoons, but offers a link to Michelle Malkin's website which provides a link to them.
Despicable acts by those in the media who hate America must stop. All citizens should demand that these and other terrorist supporting actions immediately cease. Riots and death threats are not needed. Massive protests and boycotts of the ABC brand and the products of its sponsors are fair game. The Enemy Press must be destroyed, and in its place, a new media paradigm must be planted.
Our country and our lives and the lives of our children deserve to be protected. Call or write the sponsors of ABC programming and inform them if they continue to sponsor programming you will stop buying their products. This is only one way to fight the sympathetic portraits given the terrorists by the Enemy Press. Picket your local affiliate and write letters to them, contact local advertisers and tell them your business goes elsewhere if they advertise on ABC.
We are at war and the press has chosen the side of the enemy. Let them have war then.

The AP reports that Harry Reid's possible involvement in the Abramoff scandal is deeper than it appeared. "The activities - detailed in billing records and correspondence obtained by The Associated Press - are far more extensive than previously disclosed. They occurred over three years as Reid collected nearly $68,000 in donations from Abramoff's firm, lobbying partners and clients."
Suddenly Senator Reid's attempts to portray this as a Republican only scandal seem hollow. The Democrats have tried this tactic since the news broke. Witness Howard Dean's pathetic, and easily refuted, claims that no Democrats were involved. Then he backpedals and claims that if any Democrat did take money he would be in big trouble. So much for his insistence that this is a Republican only scandal.
Although Senators are allowed to initiate actions to support donors, Senate rules demand that no donations be accepted around the time the issue is being debated or acted on. The evidence collected by the AP clearly shows Senator Reid's political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund, and his campaign committee received donations from Abramoff supporters around the time he initiated or supported causes favored by Abramoff's clients. "Reid also intervened on government matters at least five times in ways helpful to Abramoff's tribal clients, once opposing legislation on the Senate floor and four times sending letters pressing the Bush administration on tribal issues. Reid collected donations around the time of each action....While Abramoff never directly donated to Reid, the lobbyist did instruct one tribe, the Coushattas, to send $5,000 to Reid's tax-exempt political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund, in 2002. About the same time, Reid sent a letter to the Interior Department helpful to the tribe, records show....Reid himself, along his Senate counsel Jim Ryan, met with Abramoff deputy Ronald Platt on June 5, 2001, 'to discuss timing on minimum wage bill' that affected the Marianas, according to a bill that Greenberg Traurig, Abramoff's firm, sent the Marianas. Three weeks before the meeting, Greenberg Traurig's political action committee donated $1,000 to Reid's Senate re-election committee. Three weeks after the meeting, Platt himself donated $1,000 to Reid....On March 5, 2002, he sent a letter to the Interior Department pressing the agency to reject a proposed casino by the Jena band of Choctaw Indians in Louisiana. Fellow Nevada Sen. John Ensign , a Republican, also signed. The Jena's proposed casino would have rivaled one already in operation in Louisiana run by the Coushattas, and Abramoff was lobbying to block the Jena. The day after Reid's letter, the Coushattas wrote a $5,000 check to Reid's Searchlight group at Abramoff's suggestion....On Nov. 8, 2002, the Nevada Democrat signed a letter with California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein urging Interior Secretary Gale Norton to reject a proposal by the Cuyapaipe Band of Mission Indians to convert land for a health clinic into a casino in southern California....Six weeks after that letter, three Abramoff partners - including Platt and Ayoob - donated a total of $4,000 to Reid's Senate re-election campaign. Later in 2003, the Agua Caliente contributed $13,500 to Reid's political groups while the Saginaw chipped in $9,000."
Coincidence after coincidence according to Senator Reid and his staff. He only had "routine contacts." "'Senator Reid never met Jack Abramoff and never has taken contributions from him....'" As seen above, technically true. Abramoff never handed over any money to Reid, but directed others to do it. "As for the timing of donations, Manley said, 'There is no connection. This is just a typical part of lawful fundraising.'" Right, it just so happened that Senator Reid received money from people connected to Abramoff around the time he did their bidding.
Senator Reid defiantly refuses to return the tainted funds. "He argues there's no need to return the money." Then why are a whole host of Democrats scrambling to divest themselves of any cash given to them by Abramoff and his clients? As seen here: "Last week, Sen. Clinton's office announced that she would be donating $2,000 of her Abramoff jackpot to charity. The Republican National Committee says she took a total of $12,900 in Abramoff-linked cash. Other Democrats who have pledged to return tainted donations include Sens. Tim Johnson and Barbara Mikulski - as well as leading House Democrat Charles Rangel." These aren't minor league backbenchers, these are top Democrats. If they see a problem with keeping the donations, why can't Harry?
These actions by Senator Reid show that the "culture of corruption" that House Minority Leader Pelosi likes to claim belongs to the Republicans belongs to Democrats as well. Denying what appears obvious to the average citizen demeans Congress and Nevada. Senator Reid ought to resign. His actions bring no benefit to the state or nation. The sooner he leaves office the sooner corruption can be rooted out of the people's business.
Terrorist thug Hassan Nasrallah whipped up a frenzy speaking about the Mahomet cartoons yesterday, according to Enemy Press AP. "Nasrallah declared: 'Defending the prophet should continue all over the world. Let Condoleezza Rice and Bush and all the tyrants shut up. We are an Islamic nation that cannot tolerate, be silent or be lax when they insult our prophet and sanctities.'"
So is this news or because a terrorist attacks the President, the Enemy Press gleefully trumpet it as news? The headline mentions Bush only, not the others this thug references in his statement. The answer is probably the latter.

Honey Girl has been under the weather lately. Meaning, more child care, less time to post. Recovery complete. Blogging resumes!
This tag. Anyone out there able to tell me what it means? It appears to have been owned by a Grenadier, Andre Mayor, born 1929, but the military abbreviations are unknown to me. The wonders of the internet show me that there is an Andre Mayor living in Yverdon Switzerland. I wonder if it's the same one? Perhaps a letter is in order.... Anyone speak French?
When I put my k31 on layaway in December, I was told that it was good for 90 days. I decided to pick it up yesterday and went to retrieve it. As I waited for the process to begin, I wandered over to the rack and saw there was one k31 there.
I liked the one I had originally picked, but because the manager said they had another one, I felt I should at least look at it just in case it was better. Well, it was a bit better. I then asked to see mine. They didn't have any more in the back, just the one on the rack and in the box. The one in the rack was mine! They put it back in the rack! Fortunately no one had bought it.
Not very reassuring. I could have lost the one I believed had been put in storage for me.
All said, I think I was lucky. The second rifle has better wood, although with a rougher finish. There are no big gouges and no cracks. The metal on the original has some pitting on the receiver and green residue on the magazine. The second one looks pristine. Also, the serial numbers matched on this one too. It appears to have been made in 1948, so I get an older rifle in obviously better condition. The bore has strong, visible rifling. In addition, all the cosmo was cleaned off already. Less to do to make it ready for use.
Still, do they need to scare a person like that?
In a rare display of sense, a jury in Britain convicted radical islamic preacher of incitement to murder. "The jury found the one-eyed, hook-handed cleric guilty on 11 of 15 charges against him, including counts of soliciting murder, stirring racial hatred, possessing a terrorist document and possessing threatening or abusive recordings." Right after that courageous act, "Al-Masri, Britain's best-known Islamist orator, then was sentenced to seven years in prison for soliciting murder, the most serious charge. He faced a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The cleric will serve his sentences on the other charges concurrently," they declined to punish him, according to the Enemy Press AP.
As seen with the publication of the Mohamet cartoons, the reaction was, "But a Muslim leader said the verdict would trouble some in his community. 'This is creating an environment that can only further alienate the Muslim community,' said Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission." Expect to see riots and buildings torched soon.
A sorry spectacle greeted residents of Nevada as a huge, massive turnout of over 300 people stood in a union hall in Henderson while the son of America's worst president announced he would be defeated in a bid for the US Senate. Democrats played musical chairs while the failed son of a failed president spoke.
"Perhaps some were busy trying to figure out the distracting mini-event taking place in the same room. State Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus was sitting on the stage before Carter spoke. In fact, her chair didn't fit in the neat back row of chairs, so her seat at the side of the lectern made her more a focus than Jimmy or Rosalyn. When Clark County Democratic Chair Liz Foley introduced the party's two gubernatorial candidates, Titus waved from the stage and Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson received polite applause from his position against the side wall. Shelley Berkley's campaign manager, Renee Aschoff, realized the major faux pas and gave Titus her seat on the back row. She then walked around the back of the room with a chair until she got to Gibson and encouraged him to come up on the stage. Not wanting to be a distraction, Gibson declined and, in so doing, made the whole thing a bigger distraction."
Arranging deck chairs on the Titanic. The above paragraph by columnist Erin Neff shows the disarray the state democrats are currently enjoying. As usual, the mouthpieces for failed ideologies appear to believe that they have something America wants. "The Republican Party has turned the campaign kick-off into must-see television. Picture perfect. Stylistically brilliant and, typically, little more. When Democrat Jack Carter kicked off his Senate campaign yesterday at the AFL-CIO complex in Henderson, there was enough of that formula missing to make it clear this is a campaign of substance." Considering Ensign hasn't done any campaigning yet, this doesn't make much sense. Oh, wait, Neff means all the ideas put forth by the President are nothing. Well, if true, why not articulate plans of their own instead of attacking...well, because they don't have any. Despite the blather by Neff.
More silliness: "But while pundits have universally and summarily discounted Carter's ability to beat Ensign, there was something refreshing about Monday's speech. Carter talked about the nation's shared values -- liberty, democracy, the Constitution, the rule of law, family, community and cooperation. It sounded like a Democratic platform." No, it didn't mention the extremist Democrat positions of hatred of evangelicals, confiscatory tax rates, ignoring certain amendments to the Constitution, the families broken by welfare and backstabbing. That's a Democratic platform.
Despite his lack of real answers, Carter insists that "he had the answer for a number of the nation's problems -- from Iraq to national security to health care. 'All we need is a return to our American values -- and new leadership,' the refrain of his speech went. The packed room in the Painter's Hall didn't seem to catch on that 'and new leadership' could have been a great chant line." Sorry, American values are already in use by the Bush Administration. It appears even his audience doesn't agree as they missed this supposedly great chant Neff talks about. It won't work because America has already seen what Carter "leadership" is, and soundly rejected it. Please note that JC lost every county in Nevada in 1980. Every county, including heavily democrat Clark County.
Hopefully the residents of Nevada will soundly reject this Carter too. Poor ideas from America's worst president would most likely make their way into the Senate if Jack Carter gets elected. Nevadans must send this carpetbagger back to Georgia. The cancer that is Carterism must be cut out of America for good. For America to win, Carter must lose.
Despite lies to the contrary, Jack Carter spouts the same falsehoods as the leadership of the Democrat Party. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports on Carter's campaign appearance in Carson City. "Much of his speech in both ends of the state was spent criticizing the Bush administration -- its Medicare drug plan, the response to Hurricane Katrina, the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance program, a growing federal deficit, and its justifications for invading Iraq. He did not mention Ensign by name in either speech." Of course. All he has, all the Democrats have, is criticism, not solutions.
Although Jack is the candidate, his failed president father had a large portion of the attention. "Jimmy Carter characterized the Bush administration's use of the NSA surveillance program without search warrants as illegal. He questioned how many Americans have had their rights violated. Carter signed an executive order in 1979 authorizing electronic surveillance for domestic surveillance. But on Monday, he said his provision required approval of a blue-ribbon court to conduct domestic surveillance. Allowing domestic eavesdropping was a difficult decision, but he said, 'I thought civil liberties prevailed.'" Stupidity and lies. Nothing more ever seems to come out of the mouth of History's Greatest Monster. Let's see. The intercepted conversations were from known or suspected terrorists to people in America. Were they calling a florist shop to order bouquets for their mothers? Or were they calling operatives here to plan or carry out terrorist activities? Jimmy seems to think the former.
Of course when he did it, it was right and true. Mr Carter, exactly who were you spying on? Has anyone ever determined? Were they terrorists, or innocent citizens? We'll probably never know.
They story seems to make a big deal about the attention the thankfully former president received when his terrorist loving mug appears anywhere. The only man to ever be bitch slapped out of office will spend time trying to raise money for his son's doomed effort. By the way, if, as little Jackie says, 'I want to work for Nevada,' why are you seeking money from outside the state? Because he doesn't want to work for Nevada.
He's trying to follow the footsteps of another political creature and fool people of Nevada into voting him into office. The Nevada Republican Party needs to make defeating the Carterism Cancer a top priority for 2006.
