Deflated Hot Air

Man, I hate to say it, but I'm bored with Michelle Malkin's newest venture, Hot Air. Well, not completely bored...I still get to see her in video every day. But the posts are the same everyone has everywhere. It's sort of like Pajamas Media. I click Instapundit's site multiple times a day but PM leaves me cold too. Maybe because it was put out that anyone anywhere could contribute, but then the contributor list suddenly shrank to the same few each time. Hot Air's the same way. Same writers, same subjects. Same, same, same.

I guess my internet boredom is starting to return....

Press Stupidity On Guns

(An unfortunately continuing series....)

Earlier this year this little story ran on Las Vegas NBC affiliate KVBC. This was a follow up story about the fatal shooting of a Metro police sergeant. Is it laziness, stupidity, flat out lying, or all three?

"The Crimetracker 3 Team is digging deeper into the laws that let a 22 year old get his hands on an assault rifle. (I guess the dolts at News 3 didn't bother to notice that you only need to be eighteen to purchase a long gun in Nevada.) There have been a lot of questions about the gun Amir Crump was using when he fired and killed Sergeant Prendes. It was a semi-automatic assault rifle, one described by Metro as a modified AK-47. That same gun became legal in late 2004 when the Federal Assault Weapons ban expired. The 10 year ban made it illegal to sell or possess any semi-automatic weapon. (Any? Don't you idiots ever do any research?!) Nineteen different weapons (By their logic then, nineteen types of "assault rifles" are the sum total of those weapons) were on the bill; many were similar to legal guns but with cosmetic changes.

As long as the Enemy Press refuses to check their work before publishing or broadcasting, we'll continue to see such blatant stupidity, laziness, or outright lying being foisted upon an unsuspecting or gun ignorant people. Of course, that serves their purposes doesn't it?

Fox News posts this headline: "Man, Son, Neighbor Sucked Into N.Y. Cesspool." Well, I guess they should stay off of 42nd Street....

Death Threats To Hispanic Politicos?

California Governor Schwartzenegger revealed that the state's Lt Governor and LA Mayor have received death threats since the large pro-illegal alien marches held in southern California, according to Fox News.

"Schwarzenegger told reporters about the threats against Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante during a news conference in his office Monday. Other elected officials of Mexican heritage have also received threats, Schwarzenegger said, but he did not name them. Bustamante spokesman Steve Green said the lieutenant governor appeared at some immigration rallies with Villaraigosa in March and received 'nasty e-mails' afterward. The death threat — 'The only good Mexican is a dead Mexican' — came about three weeks ago on a postcard, he said."

I guess we have to believe it as no one has ever faked racist threats against themselves before have they?

McCarthy Not The Leaker!

The Enemy Press AP reports that a friend of fired CIA employee and Democrat Mary McCarthy is not the leaker that the CIA was after. "'She was not the source for that story,' said Rand Beers, who has talked with his former colleague, Mary McCarthy, a veteran intelligence analyst." Well, that settles it then....

Sheesh!

Enemy Press Network CNN Whitewashes Iran President

Crazy Iranian Thug-in-Chief Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made a bold statement yesterday about the legitimacy of Israel. "'We say that this fake regime [Israel] cannot ... logically continue to live,' he said, according to a translator for The Associated Press." Helpfully, Enemy Press Network CNN includes these remarks as well, "'We believe that Jews like any other human beings have the right to live in happiness and prosperity and to benefit from security,' he said, according to a CNN translator. 'Allow them to go back to their own fatherlands and countries.'" Uh, Mr President, where exactly do you think Jews came from? Perhaps you should read this book.

Of course the whole idea for printing this reasonable sounding text is to minimize the fact that the theocracy's madman has called for Israel's destruction. CNN and the rest of the Enemy Press doesn't want America and the West to pay attention to what the man is saying. They constantly call his ravings hyperbole. Nothing he says is proof to them that he means what he says. Let's ignore him, it's only rhetoric to combat the evil designs of that true religion imposing criminal, President Bush.

The truth of the matter is that Iran is quite possibly close to developing nuclear weapons. They constantly say what they will do once they become nuclear. Why should any sane person believe otherwise? Unfortunately we don't have a clear picture of the current status of their program. Perhaps we should ask the Russians?

At this point in time we have limited options. However, that doesn't stop anti-Americans in Congress from trying to cut our options further. "Rep. Jane Harman of California, the ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, concurred that 'our intelligence is thin.' 'This is not a time to be saber rattling in our government, talking about the military option,' Harman told Fox. 'Just the fact that the Iranian government is making a lot of noise doesn't prove their capability. Remember, the Iraqi government made a lot of noise, and they had nothing.'" Same old lies from the America Hating Left. Sorry Rep Harman, but Iraq had WMD and used them on the Kurds. You and your ilk blocked and delayed action against the criminal Saddam regime and that allowed them time to remove their weapons.

The Enemy Press continues to lie in service to the enemy and that is creating danger to our troops abroad and creating defeatism at home. They are as dangerous as any so-called "insurgent" in Iraq.

"Beautification" Begins In Peking Neighborhoods

From the AP via Yahoo news. The so-called government of China has begun demolition of homes considered to be obstacles to a great Olympic experience. "Beijing is undergoing a thorough makeover for the 2008 Games, spending an estimated $40 billion to put up sporting venues, lay down new roads and subway lines, build residential communities in the suburbs and beautify the often gray, polluted capital." Hmm, if anyone in an American city advocated this, imagine the outcry! Cities cannot even remove shantytowns and ad hoc campgrounds for homeless people without a hue and cry going up from the professional grievance lobbies. Well, no reaction here of course because it's a communist government driving the bulldozers. Where's the ISM? Surely someone from Evergreen could go and become a martyr there for the cause of the "'inner city villages.'" You know the answer to that already, no need to belabor the point.

The Enemy Press: Insinuations And Assurances

The Enemy Press AP has an agenda, an anti-freedom and anti-American agenda. These charges have been laid before. What's the evidence their supporters say? Will we see them openly running stories that sap morale? Well, yes, we have. Will we see open statements hoping for a defeat in Iraq and elsewhere in the GWOT? Probably not, they aren't that stupid. A more insidious form of defeatism is easier to use and the effect is cumulative. Also, it's generally not seen by those less knowledgeable about press procedures.

What is the first thing a reader sees when he or she scans the daily paper? The headline of course. The headline is the hook that encourages the reader to look at the story. They are short and, if written well, indicate the gist of the story. They also reveal what the press wants you to think about the story.

Don't think there's a bias in headlines? Then you aren't paying attention. Case in point. Look at these two headlines: One from the Jackson Sun in Jackson Tennessee. "Prosecutors Play Purported Tape of Saddam." And the other from The Daily Astorian from Astoria Oregon. "Bin Laden says U.S. waging war on Islam." Notice anything about these headlines? You don't? Well, let's take a closer look.... "Prosecutors Play Purported Tape of Saddam" versus "Bin Laden says U.S. waging war on Islam." Do you see the adjective attached to the first headline that doesn't have a counterpart in the second headline? Of course you do, it just didn't register with you unless you're thinking about it. The Enemy Press AP declares that it's only a purported tape of Saddam while we are to accept that Osama's new tape is actually him.

We are to doubt that Saddam has done anything wrong, that it's possibly not him on the tape. "A voice said to be Saddam's...." Please notice in the link that this quote is from the Yahoo version of the story. Also from the Yahoo version of the Osama story: "Osama bin Laden issued new threats in an audiotape...." The Enemy Press tells us that Osama's tape is real, Saddam's is possibly fake, therefore the information is untrue. Clear enough for you? The Enemy Press AP is slanting the story to make you the reader believe that Saddam is not guilty of his crimes, while Bin Laden is a brave hero outwitting the US and constantly able to exhort his followers with impunity.

Doesn't that aid the Islamist enemy? Of course it does. Help Saddam escape punishment and keep the long dead Osama alive. These actions help the enemy and hinder the GWOT. Many enemy supporters will object. "It's only one paper, the headlines are locally written to fit the space." Not entirely correct. Many papers will edit the story for length, but the headline is the AP's headline and a seeing reader will notice the same headline no matter where this story is printed or posted. We can see this by going to the AP's main website. Pick a headline, any headline. Clicking on the link will take you to a local or national website for the story. Click your browser's back button and return to the main site, then click the headline again. What happens? You get the same story with the same headline, but from a different source! Still care to defend the bias of the Enemy Press?

Clearly and convincingly - for those willing to see - the Enemy Press biases are shown to the world. The headline is the same no matter where the story is accessed. Only those who support the enemy or refuse to believe the truth can still claim the Enemy Press AP is an unbiased news source. They have an agenda, one that's dangerous to freedom and America.

I Want My Money Back!!!

After the results of this election this blog calls for the immediate cessation of all federal aid directed to rebuilding the city of New Orleans. Enemy Press Reuters reported that current New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin lead the pack in the voting this weekend.

How on earth could the people of New Orleans be so stupid?! If the citizens of that city are determined to reinstall the incompetent government that did nothing to protect the city from the results of Hurricane Katrina, then they are not entitled to any government funds to rebuild. The only federal money that should be spent is by the army corps of engineers. If it is decided that port of New Orleans must be rebuilt, then the levees should be reconstructed and then all federal monies must cease.

Are the residents of the Crescent City so debased that they would reward incompetence and gross negligence? Apparently so. Why, then, should the American public be forced to subsidize what will inevitably become a new cesspool of crime and corruption? No, it must not be so. If next month's election results in the return of Mayor Nagin to office, the Congress should move to cut off all federal funding. Unfortunately they won't do it. New Orleans will rebuild and return to what it was. And America will be the poorer for it.

Interesting Thought

Babalu Blog posted reminisces about the Kennedy Administration's willing abandonment of the Cuban patriots during the Bay Of Pigs fiasco. Humberto Fontova writes in the April 18th edition of Newsmax about how President Kennedy allowed - in reality, caused - the attack to fail.

One interesting nugget in the story concerns a quote from a book "Suicide of the West" by James Burnham. "... the Liberal cannot strike wholeheartedly at the communist for fear of wounding himself in the process." One wonders if they also avoid fighting against Islamism for the same reason. The "Liberal" and the Islamist hate Christianity and Judaism, check. The "Liberal" and the Islamist both hate personal freedom, check. The "Liberal" and the Islamist both demand no deviation from their interpretations of "sacred" texts: ie our Founding Documents and the Koran, check. The "Liberal" and the Islamist both want complete and utter control over all aspects of life: one, an atheist world government under their control and the other, a sharia government under their control.

Although the first lined up against the wall if one side wins would be the other. We have seen in the last century what happens if you end up on the wrong side of the "Liberal." Over one hundred million put to death for not adhering to the party line. The Islamists seem to be trying to outdo that number. No, they are not true allies, but their interests at this moment in time converge. Hatred for those who do not subscribe to their worldview. How many times have the conservatives in America been attacked ruthlessly by the "Liberal?" Ask Michelle Malkin. How many times have the Islamists threatened death, and indeed brought death, to those who speak and work against them?

Too many eyes are closed or distracted from the importance of our current fight by daily trials: rising gas prices while oil companies report record profit; birth of children to useless celebrities; sports; and our own little dramas filling our days. Unfortunately for us, ignoring the truth of today's events won't make them go away. We need to focus on our future and at this time our focus should be on eliminating radical Islamism. Those who try to distract us from it by hearings about alleged mistreatment of terrorists and war strategy are as dangerous to America as those who flew into the WTC. Far too many "Liberal" talking points are about stopping President Bush instead of stopping Iran's rush to nuclear status. Bizarre as it seems, their enemy is their countryman and their friends are foreign killers.

Do they just not care about what would happen if Islamism wins, or are they fooled into believing they can control them once they win? Do they believe that they can use Islamism to destroy their enemies and then destroy radical Islamism? They don't seem to have a will to physically fight, how do they propose to fight a victorious Islamist? Drive them to suicide by their banal talk and foolish blather? Perhaps naked protests and papier mache heads? Not likely. Fresh off of their supposed victory over evil conservative Christians and their Jewish overlords, will they wonder how those barbaric dark agers were able to put the knife to their throats? Well, at least they can't blame the Jews at that point.

Looks Like They've Got Your Number Harry!

Local Enemy Press Network NBC affiliate KVBC in Las Vegas runs a story on their website about ads aimed at Senate Minority Leader and extremist Harry Reid.

A national ad buy from the RNC rightly blames hate-filled Harry for the immigration reform debacle in Congress. A Republican Hispanic group also will run ads correctly identifying Reid as "a -- quote -- 'rich Anglo' and accused him of -- quote -- 'using Latinos as a pawn for political gain.'" Look out Harry, the jig is up!

Student Protesters Arrested For Wage Sit-in

The Enemy Press AP reports that 17 student "activists" were arrested on trespassing charges at the University of Virginia.

These students were demanding that the University raise the pay of their lowest paid workers. That's all well and good, but if the result of a pay raise for the workers is increased tuition, will the student protesters then protest that?

I Go To Church, U2?

This story illustrates the sorry state of affairs in the Episcopal Church. (Editor's Note: I am not nor ever have been nor expect to be a member of said church. I therefore have no "moral authority" to comment on their doings, but this is America, so too bad.) If a church thinks it needs to rely on pop culture icons or other things to be "relevant" perhaps they'd better consider whether what they're preaching is the Truth or "feel good" pap.

In fact, this unique approach really doesn't seem to work anyway. "About 130 people showed up for the Friday night service, roughly the same turnout as a Sunday morning." Another church did get more. "A similar U2 Eucharist in November proved popular at All Saints' Church in Atlanta. Organizer Laurie Haynes Burlington said she and her husband planned on 300 worshippers. About 500 showed up."

Well, all churches have a need to grow, and that's their calling, to increase membership. Unfortunately, such stunts generally water down what the message should be. "Christian Scharen, 39, a Lutheran pastor (ELCA apparently) and professor at Yale Divinity School, said he's often argued to older colleagues that U2 is heavily influenced by Christianity." Yeah, that's great, let's take our theology from people "influenced by Christianity." Too bad that doesn't guarantee you'll get someone who's a Christian. U2 lead singer Bono reportedly "has told interviewers that he worships God through music." All well and good, but as been asked before of others, which God does he worship? If his theological beliefs do not match yours, why would you base your church doings on his music?

Supporters might say, "Well, it's just his music we use to attract people to come in, we really don't mix our liturgy with our music." Huh?! If your worship music doesn't match your theology what message are you sending? One of confusion. "Well, we sing this song, but we don't subscribe to what it's saying." So in other words a church such as this, ie a Trinitarian, would have no problem singing Unitarian songs during their worship. (Do Unitarians even have worship songs?) Confusion reigns and the message is corrupted and misunderstood and essentially, worthless. All because of some perceived need to make the church "relevant" for today's sinners, er, righteousnessly challenged.

Although this story references goings on in the Episcopal Church, we see already misunderstandings and incorrect interpretations of scripture given out everywhere. "In Providence, Blair (Rev. Paige Blair, a parish priest in York Harbor, Maine) delivered a homily to pitch the One Campaign, which the Episcopal Church supports. She ticked off statistics about poverty and infant mortality in Africa, underscoring her points with equal parts Bono and Bible. "If you're a Bono fan, you know the next line: Where you live should not determine whether you live or die," she said, then reminding worshippers of a Gospel passage warning that taking care of the needy is what will separate the good from the bad at the final judgment.

What?! That is an incorrect interpretation of Matthew 25. The separation of the good from the evil is prior to the questioning. The good are not judged good from doing deeds, they do deeds because they are good. This is shown to be the correct interpretation in Ephesians 2 verses 8-10. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Was the separation of good and bad presented this way by the Rev Blair or the writer of the story? Either way, it shows that many people and perhaps churches misinterpret the clear meaning of scripture. Adding things such as rock music and other non religious trappings can lead to losing the message in the rush to introduce novelty hoping to gain some new parishioners. Bad for the churches, and bad for the new members. Then again, that's a certain person's plan, isn't it?

Blog Hiatus

Sorry, no posts for at least a week.

Jesus Never Really Walked On Water?!

So says some scientist at LiveScience.com. You see, we really didn't mean to imply that this guy didn't walk on water, but this strange ice formed around the time the guy was said to be alive. So you see, if it happened, and he really lived, and he was alive around this time, it's possible, not absolutely sure, but we think we believe it a probability that he never walked on water. So, in effect, he didn't do anything miraculous. Well, we mean, he was a nice guy and all, if he really lived, and he taught some nice things, but well, he's no more important to heaven, if it exists, than Mohammed, (pbuh) or that meditating guy, or golden calves or elephant or dog headed beings. So let's get rid of this religion stuff, OK? Just saying's all. Don't have a cow. Er, don't eat it either.

Alright, seriously now. Do scientists look to specifically debunk Jesus and His actions, or does someone else set them on these projects? It seems to me that no one would specifically try to link the ice to Jesus unless he had an agenda. Listen to what the scientist says. "'We simply explain that unique freezing processes probably happened in that region only a handful of times during the last 12,000 years,' said Doron Nof, a Florida State University Professor of Oceanography. 'We leave to others the question of whether or not our research explains the biblical account.'" The question is, did you go specifically looking for possible freeze dates that matched up to the reported time of Jesus' ministry? If Nof didn't, who did?

One other point the scientist is forgetting. Peter also walked on water, only for a few seconds, but he did walk. No one wrote that he walked on ice, wouldn't he notice that he was on ice, not water? How thick is this ice? How thick does ice have to be before it can hold the weight of a fully grown man? A few inches? Two? Six? The Gospel account indicates a bit of distance between Jesus and the boat. Nof doesn't indicate how large these floes are. Small pieces? Large sheets? Unless the whole lake was covered in ice the Gospels show Jesus walked from the shore to the middle of the lake where the boat was. Not likely according to the report in LiveScience. "Such floating ice in the unfrozen waters of the lake...." This indicates pieces of ice, maybe large chunks but this wouldn't cover the whole lake.

It's theoretically possible that Jesus walked from floe to floe picking his way across the lake, but if he did that would negate the miraculousness of it. Perhaps that's the whole idea behind this story. Not claiming, but insinuating He's not what He claims to be.

What Happened To Tradition?

OK, I've been disturbed by this before but never really noticed. Today is opening day of baseball and the Reds aren't playing. I remember when the Reds were the first team to play each season because they were the successors to the first recognized professional baseball team.

Did Shrillery have something to do with this? The commie!

JimmyB, do you have any info? Taft didn't sell them down the river did he?
