February 12, 1809

Two hundred years ago today, a great president was born.

Some will honor him in deed today and some only with their lips.

Lincoln was a work in progress. Had he not been killed who know what impact would have been made with freed men. 10 days prior to his death he visited Richmond, VA and received thanks from those freed from slavery around the city.

Well, we know his general plans for reconstruction and that Johnson didn't carry them out. Quite a bit would have been different had Lincoln survived to the end of his term.
